The Informal - 18th September

The Informal - 18th September @ STOCKTON

As most of our music group is away for the September Informal, we are going to do something completely different!

It is still happening, but in STOCKTON Church (same time - 6pm + cake beforehand).  It will be a more reflective evening with some Taize music and a focus on the Lord's Prayer.I hope you can join us

Peter Jackson Youth Fund

Rev’d Peter Jackson, who tragically died in 2014, set up the Peter Jackson Youth Fund, upon his retirement in 1999 after being vicar of Napton for 27 years.

The Fund was set up to provide small grants towards the purchase of academic books to young people living in Napton who are going to further education (College or university).

Napton St Lawrence PCC are inviting applications to the fund which should be submitted by 30th September 2016, in writing and preferably by email to admin@thebridgesgroup.co.uk containing the following information.

Death of Father Jacques Hamel

The funeral of the Catholic Priest, Father Jacques Hamel, murdered by extremists in Rouen last week, takes place in France om Tuesday 2 August.

As a gesture of solidarity, and in our own small way, to stand up against such evil, we are holding a special service to show our support for France and, for that matter, all countries affected by recent attacks by extremists in the name of religion.

Napton Church Fete

Thank you to everyone who supported this year's church fete. Despite a stormy day and lower than usual numbers your support meant we raised over £1100 towards the running of the village church. A special thank you to sponsors and local businesses who generously supported the day. Napton Village Stores, Red Banger Catering, The King's Head, Skin & Tonic, B Line Plant Hire and the Folly. Also to the many people who baked cakes, donated tombola items and ran stalls. Our gratitude goes to Southam Country Stores for organising and sponsorship of the Novelty Dog Show.

Priors Hardwick Parish Notes

It seems that a big bonfire is a good way of getting our inhabitants out of their houses – and I don’t mean by burning them out!  The Queen’s 90th birthday was the opportunity for another beacon to be lit on the hill above the village and it was an opportunity to catch up with many of our friends and neighbours who we don’t come across very often in our busy lives.  While the men talked about sport, work & the travails of commuting, the women probably didn’t, and there were seemingly dozens of children running off steam across the field.  Many thanks to Hugh Darbishire and his mates for

Happy 90th Birthday to her Majesty!
